CRM: Selection Fields Based on Contacts and Companies

2 min read FeaturesERP and CRM

In the CRM and in projects, selection fields (single and multiple choice) can now be built on the basis of contacts and companies from the CRM, instead of a manually entered list of options.

What has changed

When configuring your own selection list field, a new setting appears - Option source. By default, the list is entered manually, as before. After switching to contacts or companies, you pick options from a searchable list of existing CRM records.

How it works

  • Field configuration stays where it is, in the custom field editor for the CRM and for the project - with no extra steps.
  • Picking a record from the list works like a search: you type part of the name and select the right contact or company.

When it makes sense

The new mode is useful everywhere a field in the CRM or in a project is meant to point to a specific contractor, contact person, or executing company - for example in the Investor, General contractor, Contact person, or Subcontractor field. Instead of duplicating names by hand and updating them across many records after every change, you select an existing record and everything else happens automatically.

Availability

The change applies to field configuration in the CRM and in projects. It requires no data migration and no manual rework of existing fields - fields configured previously in manual mode keep working as before, and an administrator can add a new field at any time.
