Contractors.es now has two new finance settings that make it easier to work with project finances and employee costs. Both are available in the company configuration and can be adjusted to the realities of each country.
VAT toggle — one place, one setting
The new option Finance: VAT enabled in the company settings lets you switch VAT off for the whole organisation with a single toggle. Once disabled, the rates disappear from invoices and estimate forms, and the default rate stays visible read-only in the project configuration. The setting also shows a Disabled globally message, explaining that editing the rate requires turning VAT back on in Settings → Finance.
At the same time, price labels in equipment and warehouse got a (net) or (gross) suffix depending on context, so it is immediately clear which amount you are looking at.
Employer cost — default markup and per-employee override
Employee compensation is more than gross salary. From now on, the company configuration lets you set an Employer cost: default markup (%) — a percentage markup on the gross salary that covers taxes and contributions paid by the employer. The default value differs by country.
In each employee’s profile, you will find a Employer cost markup (%) field with the (inherited from configuration) option. If a specific person needs a different rate, you can override it directly on their record. A new Employer cost label also appears in the schedule and when settling activities, vacation and warehouse production, so the total labour cost is visible right when you plan.
What this changes in practice
VAT settings and employer cost markup now live in one place. The company administrator turns them on once — and they apply to every project, employee and document, with the option to override where it is needed.
